A quick note about the state of the States
on the 4th of July, 2023
As my friends, acquaintances, and some family members too, in the USA celebrate Independence Day today, I thought about a few things regarding the state of the States, from a personal standpoint.
🇺🇲
I thought about how this day has been a day I’ve looked forward to every year, despite not being American and never lived in the USA. The colors, the decorations, the fireworks, the joy, the pride — it’s so beautiful to see! As strange as it might seem at first it’s really not weird at all, it’s just a display of how big of an influence the USA and the American culture has — even far outside of its borders. And for as long as I can remember I’ve only had good and positive influences coming from this great country, but lately this has sadly changed. I’d like to address this, from my own point of view.
🇺🇲
I’m drinking my morning coffee and thinking of how much my view of the United States has changed just over the last couple of years, and I think that it’s probably the reality that finally won over my wishful fantasies. But somewhere deep inside there’s still a hope that these dreams and inspiring views are the true nature of the USA and the current situation is just a temporary hiccup. How to determine this I don’t know, but I think that aiming for the positive is the best choice. I truly believe that the outcome from working with a positive mindset towards the future would result in something great no matter what. I wish more people could commit to that sort of creative and positive view of life, I’m sure we’d all be better off that way.
The darkness that has fallen on my personal view of the United States of America has very little to do with the American people per se. I think you all (Ok, fine — the majority of you) are great human beings with high morals and ethics, integrity, intelligence and smarts, values based on love and respect for others, and you’re also really funny. I mean that as a compliment, some of the best comedians and comedies are American, no doubt.
🇺🇲
The darkness I see comes from politics used for individual agendas and greed, the weaponization of religion and spirituality as well as common sense ethics and morals, the use of sex and gender differences as causes and examples of what’s wrong or bad, the crumbling of personal responsibility, the increasing disregard of rule of law and due process, and the apathy of the people that are emotionally and mentally fatigued from all the infighting and blame games. They can’t help it, it’s a natural consequence of years of a domestic mess that just gets worse by the day. And I don’t have a solution or any “well meaning good advice” about how to resolve this, I wish I did. But I can tell you what I see so you can react, and hope the ripple effect makes the difference.
🇺🇲
It is a day like today a change could start. A day when the American people can say,
“Today we celebrate our Independence Day, and tomorrow we will start working on regaining our freedom from fear and build something even better for everyone — so that next year we will not only celebrate this day but will also BE truly independent once more.”
And I think you can, southern neighbors, and I hope you will — because I want my dreams, inspiration, and hopefulness back. And I want to visit and take in the beautiful nature, taste the foods, and hang out with you people. Make it happen. You know you can.
🇺🇲 🥂 Happy 4th Of July 🎆🇺🇲
